Mundaú is considered one of the few lost paradises in the Ceará. It has a population of approximately 8000 inhabitants and lives basically of fishing and the commerce of the women tenants.
The tourism starts to develop, what creates new options of life. The region has many natural attractives, as reefs that shelter its calm peninsula, temporary mangroves, lagoons, great dunes, beyond the River Mundaú, whose estuary forms a mosaic between dunes of sand and vegetation.
The Beach of Mundaú is a peninsula sheltered by reefs. With calm water, it is excellent for the free diving and the bath. Named "Great Lagoon" for the first aboriginal inhabitants. It' worth to visit the tenants of the village and to observe its ancestral techniques of handcraft.
The dunes are proper for the practical of Sandboarding, surf in the sand. One of the best sunsets you can see is from above of dunes.
The rusticity is the tonic of the visit: the inns are simple and comfortable and the restaurants offer the flavorful local food, full of fresh sea food.
